The flat forms of buckles provide Indian silversmiths with a perfect medium to demonstrate their mastery of silverwork and stonecutting. Their skills created colorful dancers, intricate geometric patterns, bold stampwork creations and a multitude of other distinctive and attractive designs. Navajo silver buckle by Mark Chee (hallmarked), c. 1960. Extremely unusual for a Chee piece in that it has no stone settings. Very good repousse and stampwork designs. 3" x 2 9/16", takes up to a 1 1/2" belt. SOLD (BU LL/19) Inquire/Order

Handsome buckle and bolo set by Frank Patania Sr. (hallmarked), c. 1950. Different from most of Patania's work in that it makes use of Pueblo-style mosaic inlay.
